All year round birds are ringed in the Netherlands for scientific research resulting in a huge amount of data. Every Dutch metal ring has a unique number and inscription with "Vogeltrekstation Arnhem Holland" (on the smaller rings "Arnhem VT Holland"). These ringed birds can be found by anyone anywhere.

The Dutch Centre for Avian Migration & Demography or 'Vogeltrekstation' is the organisation that administers almost everything concerning rings on wild birds in the Netherlands.
