Personality and cognition

Animals differ consistently in behaviour and such consistent behavioural differences are similar to human personality. Individuals of different personality also differ in fitness, but this difference depends on availability of food.
 

Research question:

Do great tits with different personality differ in cognitive strategies to find food?
 

Resources:

• Birds from unique selection lines for personality traits.
• Birds are selected to be fast or slow explorers.
• Birds are hand reared and kept in aviaries or cages.

Experimental setup in the lab to test for cognitive strategies to find hidden food.
