Our returning programmes for students are:

NIOO: Cutting Edge Ecology
In this Capita Selecta series, students, staff and strangers can become acquainted with cutting edge ecology. We visit the hot areas in present-day ecological research where new questions are being asked and new approaches are sought, often with the use of technologically highly advanced techniques.

FOKUZ: Marine Masters
In november 2008 NIOO and NIOZ (Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research) started a cooperation: FOKUZ (Fundamental Research on Seas and Coasts). Within FOKUZ the two institutes will develop a marine MSc curriculum in cooperation with Dutch Universities. The first marine masters course started in June 2009.

NERN: PhD education programme
The NIOO is affiliated with NERN (The Netherlands Ecological Research Network). NERN consists of the combined strengths of Dutch ecologically oriented graduate schools, universities and institutes. It aims at manifesting and reinforcing the fundamental ecological research in the Netherlands. It supports Graduate Schools in the field of ecology to offer a complete PhD education programme.
